Mercure Hotel | Erfurt

Holiday in Erfurt's old town centre

The old patrician house from 1451 looks as if it were built for eternity. The ceiling of the restaurant "Zum Rebstock" at the Mercure hotel "Erfurt Altstadt" still features the ancient oak beams.

The hotel is situated right in the middle of the historic town centre, surrounded by colourful and in part very old houses. If you would like to go for a stroll through the historic neighbourhood and are looking for the local landmarks, you will find plenty of material in the form of brochures, maps and event tips on the hotel's information board. However, hotel director Stefan Götz and his reception staff are also always happy to share their insider knowledge. Let's just mention one thing: The Krämerbrücke bridge is only a stone's throw away, but the Kaufmannskirche – the church where the composer Johann Sebastian Bach's parents got married – is also directly in front of the hotel door. Once you've seen enough for one day or when you simply need to relax, you can drink a cup of coffee in the lush inner courtyard or visit the sauna area.

EXPERIENCE TIP

The Krämerbrücke is a must-see!

Simply walk down Meienbergstrasse to Wenigemarkt, have a quick look inside the ancient St Giles' Church and then stroll across the Krämerbrücke, an arch bridge with houses built along it that have been continuously occupied longer than those on any other bridge in Europe. Most of them are now charming independent shops and galleries.
