For the love of nature

There's a home-made cake on the table, next to it a few fresh flowers in a glass vase; a delicious aroma wafts from a pot on the hob – that is how Sonja and Gert Reichsthaler welcome their guests at the "Pension namenlos".

Every morning, they'll find the "Reichsthaler-Morgenpost" on the breakfast table, a self-designed newspaper that contains wishes for the day in the form of inspiring quotes or poems about happiness, serenity and harmony written by the owners. The accommodation for paying guests actually consists of two holiday cottages on a small hill in the country surrounded by the Thuringian Forest. In the summer, you can go walking on the forest's hiking trails; in the winter, ski langlauf fans can look forward to groomed loipen tracks. The holiday cottages are furnished with unique hand-crafted pieces from all over the world. Each cottage is also equipped with its own spa facilities, as well as a ground floor patio or a balcony.

EXPERIENCE TIP

Altenstein Palace near Bad Liebenstein is surrounded by a beautiful landscaped park with colourful carpet flower beds, and there are special viewpoints from which you can enjoy spectacular views of the Werra valley below.
